Where Is Aynor SC?

Located just 35 miles outside of Myrtle Beach you will find the little town of Aynor. Aynor is known for the little town feeling that welcomes you when you visit. This peaceful town is also known as the “Little Golden Town” due to the friendly hospitality the community offers. Aynor can sometimes be difficult to pronounce. If you are unsure how to say it, Aynor is pronounced aye- nor. 

The city was first founded around the 1910s. Aynor originally was known for its agriculture for producing tobacco, cotton, and turpentine. Aynor was started by a man named John Eyenner. Eyenner owned and operated a farm known as “Eyenner Farms”. 

Aynor is full of history! In 1876 General Wade Hampton arrived riding horseback to deliver his gubernatorial campaign. He stood on the Galivants Ferry Stump and gave his speech. This speech marked the very beginning of Democratic dominance in the state of South Carolina for the next hundred years. Aynor is home to the Galivants Ferry Stump, which is the largest and oldest political stump in the United States. 

While Aynor is not as well known for agriculture these days, the town is definitely known for its Southern hospitality. Aynor has grown into a beautiful town with thriving businesses to stop and see. The schools found in Aynor include Aynor Elementary, Aynor Middle School, and Aynor High School which is home to the Blue Jackets. The schools are rated highly and offer a wide variety of afterschool programs and activities. With Aynor being a small town it is easy to access the schools located here. Spend Friday night under the lights supporting your local Blue Jackets football team! 

Aynor Hoe-Down Festival

Aynor offers a long-standing tradition of the annual Aynor Hoe-Down Festival. This festival has been held every year since 1979. The original welcome speech was held out of the back of a truck and in current times it is held on the large stage with around 25,000 people in attendance. During the festival, you will find a wide variety of activities including a pageant show, antique tractors, and car show, live local music, and over 185 local art and craft vendors. A wide variety of food for you to enjoy includes BBQ, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Chicken Bog, and a lot more. This is a festival you do not want to miss! 

More Things To Do In Aynor SC

There are many fun and adventurous things to do in Aynor. Grand Strand Horseback Riding offers something fun for the whole family. There are several riding options for you to enjoy. You can enjoy trail horseback riding which will take you on a fun adventure through the countryside. The horses will take you through canals, crop fields, wooded trails, and gorgeous pastures. Camp Liberty offers something fun for children to enjoy during the summer. Also offered is Cowboy Weekend. The Fall season on the farm is packed full of family-friendly activities offering a fun-filled day for the whole family. You can find over 20 attractions on the farm during this time of year including bumpy barrel train rides, jump pad, wagon rides, need for speed adult trikes, large slides, petting zoo, cotton maze, pig racing, and much more! Southern Palmetto Farms is a must-see family-friendly attraction that’s a must-see in the wonderful town of Aynor.
